Your Love Is Sufficient

Your Love Is Sufficient

In the past weeks I have been reflecting on people in my life.

People, I feel have great faith.  The man at the top of this list

for me is George W. Allen. Or as we call him “Pop”. Pop is

my father-in-law and as my father-in-law has shared over the

years much of his  faith with me.  However, it has only been

in the last couple years that I have truly come to value and

seek out these conversations.  I find such comfort and

wisdom in those moments that I later use in my own

reflection and meditation time.

The words he spoke that most touched me were not

spoken to me, but to my wife and then by her to me.  The

words were “My Love Is Sufficient”.  I heard these words one

day when I shared with my wife how amazing I felt it was

that her dad has such faith despite the constant and terrible

pain he is in from his rheumatoid arthritis.  My wife

responded that she had asked him, “ Pop, how do deal with

all the pain and not get angry with God because he has not

healed you.” He said to her that he prays to Jesus to help

him with the pain and he said the Lord told him “ My Love Is

Sufficient”. And he is right.

This is such a powerful statement to me.  I think back to

this often as I deal with many trials and challenges in my life.

At times I stop and ponder on what this really means and I

am always drawn to the vision of Jesus on the cross, broken,

bleeding and dying.  Not there because he had done

something wrong, but to quiet him for teaching the love of

God.  He could have left the cross at anytime if he wanted to

but he did not,  because the love for us was/is so great.

Sometimes I avoid posting my thoughts on here because I

fear what some may say or think, my fear shuts me up!  How

many of us let this sort of fear shut us up? Jesus did not die

on the cross and rise again so that we would let fears or

people shut us up.

So as I write this I pray the words of my Pop,

“His Love Is Sufficient”, because I want to be apart of

spreading the wonder of Jesus and not apart of shutting up

the Lord.  I encourage each of you who read this, to open

your mouth and tell all the world of this great love Jesus has

for everyone.

Blessings
